I think you’ve paid too much attention to the oral part of the language, whose formal usage actually plays a more important role in tests. So some shift of attention from oral training to formal content might help. Tests cover the exact usage of words and expressions, requiring you to refer to dictionary more often。

　　A British company wants to build a paper factory in our city. But opinions are divided on the question. Some think we should build the paper factory. What’s more, the factory will bring modern ideas of management as well as new machines, including equipment for protecting the environment。
　　On the other hand, others insist on not having it built in the city. They believe that the factory will produce loud noises which will disturb people’s peaceful life. Besides, poisonous gases from the factory will dirty the air we breathe. The rivers will also be polluted by the waste water from the factory。
